So finally on Tuesday we went to the Anti Cruelty Society! We went into a room FULL OF KITTIES and I said I would like a very cuddly friendly kitty. A little black kitten was the first kitten we met and she crawled all over us and eventually settled down to snuggle on my lap. I knew that this kitty was awesome but figured that we should probably meet some more, so we chilled with a Calico for a while but then held the black kitten again and I declared the she was to be my kitty. And after all the paperwork was filled out she was! Hooray!
They put her in a cardboard box with holes in it, which she DID NOT LIKE. She meowed the entirety of the way home and kept sticking her paws out of the holes making bids for freedom. It was just about the most adorable and sad thing all at the same time. But now she is home and is a very happy kitty.
Naming her was somewhat difficult. Chad and I were pulling up lists of potential baby and cat names off the internet. There were such horrible things as "Black Magic", "Blackie", "The Darkness" and other assorted nonsense. We did find the name "Nox" on one of those lists which was the number one front runner for a while (it's the spell that puts out lumos in Harry Potter), but I was not totally in love with it. Her info card at the Anti Cruelty Society said "I'm an athlete," which remind me of Fantastic Mr. Fox because his son keeps saying "I think of myself as an athlete, but I don't think you guys see me that way..." I looked up his name, which was Ash, and it was perfect. Fits the black cat theme and it can be tied into Pokemon for Ash Ketchum. Win.
This is her house/cat tower. She sleeps in the little arched house part with a Mickey plush that smells like Chad and I. It's totally adorable. Also, yes she is super teeny. I have always wanted a kitty and having Ash is basically the best thing ever. May we live happily ever after in adorable kitty love magicalness.
